Baltimore Gas & Electric
- The Purple Booklet - An excellent book, put together by BG&E, contains many numbers for electric bill assistance and many other assistance programs.
- Budget Billing - Spread electric bill into even monthly payments. 410-685-0123 or 1-800-685-0123
- Customer Assistance Maintenance Program (CAMP) - Get up to $144 per year in discount on BG&E bills. 410-685-0123 or 1-800-685-0123.
If you receive a turn-off notice:
- Immediately call BG&E at 410-685-2200 or 1-800-685-2210 and request a one week extension.
- Consult with family or friends and ask for assistance with the bill.
- Apply for help with a Maryland Office of Home Energy Programs. They can give information about different programs to assist in your electricity and heating needs. For Anne Arundel county, call the Anne Arundel County Equal Opportunities Committee, Inc. at 410-626-1910.
- Check with your church, or a church in your community. Be prepared with your account number, amount of the turn-off notice, and total amount of money owed. Remember that churches generally give preference to their members and then to people in their local community.
Fuel Fund of Maryland
- The Fuel Fund of Maryland provides help to needy families for heat and home utilities. This includes utilities, oil, wood, kerosene, propane, coal, and other bulk fuel sources.
- You must first be apply to and be certified by the Maryland Office of Home Energy Programs. For further information call 1-800-332-6347, or in Anne Arundel, call the Anne Arundel County Equal Opportunities Committee, Inc. at 410-626-1910.
- Once certified, make an appointment with the Fuel Fund. Further details are on the assistance page.
