Broadneck EP Church -  Core Values

BECOMING A COMMUNITY…REACHING A COMMUNITY
…WITH CHRIST’S TRUTH & LOVE

Core Value 1: Life as God Intended
We believe that changed lives are about Christ and His word.
Ø      A relationship with Christ and his word of truth and love transforms life into a new order where God is no longer the means and my life the end, rather my life is the means and God is the end.
See Ephesians 1:3-6, 11-14; 2:1-10; II Corinthians 3:18; Romans 8:28-29

“Christianity is the obedient & vibrant response of those who have been made alive in Jesus Christ and are being renewed and transformed daily in the image of the One: They love! They worship! They serve! They proclaim!” Jay Dennis

Core Value 2: Born Again into Community
We believe that new life in Christ creates community with God and God’s family, the local church.
Communion with God and God’s family are intertwining realities that involve both:
Ø      Intentionally deepening our communion with God through time in God’s word and prayer, private and public worship, AND;
Ø      Intentionally deepening our communion with one another by imbedding our lives in relationship with a particular community of believers.
See the image of the church as a temple (I Peter 2:4-8) and a body (Ephesians 4:1-6; John 17:20-23)

Core Value 3: Doing Church as a Team
We believe that new life in Christ supernaturally enables you to serve together with God’s family, intentionally maximizing your giftedness & calling to serve Christ’s cause.
The intertwining realities of communion with God and God’s family also involves:
Ø      Intentionally investing your gifts together with a particular community of believers…The ministry of the church is not about volunteers, but rather people called by God to invest in his eternal cause.
See I Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4:1-16; Romans 12:1-8; I Peter 4:7-11

“I would rather fail at a cause that will ultimately succeed, than succeed in a cause that will ultimately fail.” Abraham Lincoln

Core Value 4: Becoming a Contagious Church
We believe that new life in Christ sends you into a lost world to intentionally cultivate relationships with those who are distant from Christ, sharing his good news in alignment with a contagious church.
Ø      BEPs goal is that in cooperation with the work of the Holy Spirit, we would reach and retain one non-Christian per year for every ten Christians who are regular attenders.
See Matthew 28:16-20; John 17:15-23; Acts 2:42-47

“God, help us to build a truly contagious church that will reach lost people. Grant that we would not just be a warm company of committed believers, but a contagious community ready to enfold, reach and influence skeptics and seekers all around us. May BEP be increasingly populated by people who have come to Christ by our witness. In Jesus Name, Amen.”

Core Value 5: Becoming a Praying Community
We believe that becoming and reaching a community is always God-sized, requiring humble and prayerful reliance upon God to grow a church of irresistible influence.
See John 15:1-8; Colossians 4:2-6, 12; Ephesians 6:10-20

“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer IS the greater work.” Oswald Chambers
